Improving educational opportunities in India for disadvantaged children
There were lots of familiar faces and some new ones at this event which has been held annually since Roseberry School Darjeeling opened. Visitors and helpers enjoyed the home made cakes as usual, and the plant stall did a roaring trade. During the afternoon, Helen announced that the total raised at her garden open days had passed the £10,000 mark, and she wanted to say a huge thank-you to all those who had contributed over the years. She said it all felt like a party in celebration of the wonderful school in Darjeeling which SAI continues to support and maintain.
Helpers test the cakes beforehand.
Every donation helps SAI provide better facilities for our students, here are some typical examples of costs that we incur on a regular basis. We have six classes with 20-25 children in each class.
